Dear Township Basketball Friends, Families, Players and Neighbors,

We’re excited to officially announce that registration for the 2026–27 Manheim Township Youth Basketball season is NOW OPEN!

After a record-setting year for our program, we’re ready to build on that momentum with more opportunities, more basketball, and a place for even more young athletes in Manheim Township to play and grow.

 Tentative Evaluations/Tryouts: October 12–15
 Boys & Girls | Grades 2–6

This season also marks an exciting expansion for our program.

 ONE PROGRAM. TWO PATHWAYS. MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY.

Our goal continues to be simple: get more Township kids in the gym, give them quality coaching and meaningful basketball opportunities, and help each player find an environment that matches where they are in their development.

For 2026–27, MT Youth Hoops will offer two basketball pathways:

 MT TRAVEL HOOPS

Development • Competition • Middle School Preparation

Our staple Travel Hoops program returns for boys and girls in grades 4–6.

Travel Hoops is designed for players ready for a higher level of development, commitment and competition while preparing them for the next stages of Township basketball.

Players can expect:

• 2–3 practices per week
• Approximately 14 competitive games
• Competition against other area travel programs
• Individual skill and team development
• Greater emphasis on offensive and defensive concepts
• Preparation for the expectations of middle school basketball

Travel Hoops will continue to provide the competitive basketball experience that has become the foundation of MTTBA.  Our travel league, South Central Youth Basketball League, continues to get more competitive, creating an exciting atmosphere for our kids and giving them the best competition our region has to offer.

 INTRODUCING: MT RISING HOOPS

Play • Fundamentals • Confidence

Due to growing interest, this year, we're excited to create an entirely new pathway for our young athletes.

MT Rising Hoops will provide developmental basketball opportunities for boys and girls in grades 2–4, allowing us to reach younger aspiring hoopers and give more Township athletes an opportunity to learn the game, get into the gym, and build the skills and confidence that can prepare them for future basketball opportunities.

Rising Hoops will feature:

• 1 organized practice per week
• Weekend games
• Games against other MT teams and/or nearby programs with similar skill and competitive levels
• An emphasis on basketball fundamentals
• Age-appropriate coaching and instruction
• More opportunities for gym time and game experience
• A positive environment designed to build confidence and a love for basketball

This isn't intended to be traditional travel basketball — and that's exactly the point.

Competition will still be part of the experience, but development, fundamentals and building the basketball foundation for our youth athletes is our goal.

We want players learning how to dribble, pass, shoot, defend, move without the basketball, play as a team and understand the game — while having fun doing it.

Most importantly, we want our young athletes leaving the gym more confident and more excited about basketball than when they walked in.

 WHY ARE WE EXPANDING?

Last season showed us just how much the interest in youth basketball is growing throughout Manheim Township for both boys and girls.

Nearly 200 players registered for our program, resulting in the largest number of teams we've ever fielded.

We believe there are even more young athletes throughout our community who want an opportunity to play basketball, learn the game and spend more time in the gym.

Not every player develops at the same pace.

Some players may be ready for competitive travel basketball as they enter 4th grade. Others may benefit from additional time focused on fundamentals, confidence and game experience.

Both deserve an opportunity to grow.

A 2nd grader learning the game today could become a future MT Travel player.

A 3rd or 4th grader building confidence and fundamentals through Rising Hoops may be ready for Travel Hoops in the future.

And a player who simply wants to learn, improve, compete and have fun should have a place to do that too.

That's what Rising Hoops is about.

 BUILDING ON A MEMORABLE '25-'26 SEASON

There is a lot to be proud of as we look back at last season.

MT had tremendous success both on and off the court, highlighted by hosting the first-ever South Central Youth Basketball League Final Four Championships at the MT Arena.

The event brought together nearly 400 youth basketball players competing from across our region and welcomed more than 3,000 spectators to Manheim Township for an incredible weekend of youth basketball.

Our MT teams gave us plenty to celebrate as well:

 6th Grade Boys White — Championship Game
 4th Grade Boys Blue — Championship Game
 6th Grade Girls White — Final Four
 5th Grade Boys Blue — Final Four
 6th Grade Boys Blue — Quarterfinals
 5th Grade Boys White — Quarterfinals
 6th Grade Girls Blue — Quarterfinals
 5th Grade Girls White — Quarterfinals
 4th Grade Girls Blue — Quarterfinals

That means nine MT teams advanced into the postseason, with four reaching the Final Four and two playing for championships.

But perhaps the most exciting success was the continued growth of youth basketball here in Manheim Township.

Nearly 200 registrations. A record number of MT teams. And more young athletes wanting to play.

That's momentum we want to continue.
